New ID documents required to rent-a-car in Bulgaria

Since the last year is clear that the ID documents in Bulgaria will need to be changed. The prices of the new documents are expected to be between 18 lv. for personal ID to 35 lv for drivers licence. The Passport is not needed unless you will travel outside of European Union. If you will still need to change your passport the price will be approximately 50lv for regular order.

To reserve a rent-a-car you do not have to possess an ID with a biometric data base in it, however you will need to do it with a valid drivers licence, with not expired date.

Therefore if you will need to travel and will rent-a-car, make sure you have checked your drivers licence exparation date. If it id expired or close to expire you would better apply reniew it. If your drivers licence is not valid you will not be able to rent-a-car.
